Finance sends a payslip. Legal shares a contract addendum. Marketing uploads a Word copy deck. Clients need to read the actual document, leave anchored feedback, and know the file matches the locked milestone — not just skim plain text in chat.
Zlaip supports Word (.docx) review in the same Review Workspace as video, PDF, and images — with a document-style preview, text selection comments, and AI Asset Review that reads extracted text against your deliverable and Definition of Done.
When Word review matters
| Use case | Why in-app review beats email |
|---|---|
| Payslips & payroll packs | Tables, totals, and labels must be checked on the real layout |
| Contracts & SOW addenda | Clause-level comments need to stick to the version under Approval Lock |
| Copy decks & long-form text | Headlines, placeholders, and section completeness vs. DoD |
| HR / compliance docs | Wrong attachment uploaded is a high-severity mistake — AI match guard helps |
Email threads and generic file shares do not anchor comments to selections. Paste-only review loses tables and formatting. Zlaip keeps the .docx file as the source of truth.
How Word upload works in Zlaip
- Creative chooses Upload for review in Accountability Chat (same flow as PDF, video, Excel).
- Select a .docx file — no separate “Word upload” button.
- File stores on the agreement; client opens Review Workspace.
- Document renders in a white page, gray canvas viewer (Word-like layout, including tables).
- Reviewers select text in comment mode; anchors store character offsets plus a quoted excerpt for reliable highlights.
- AI Asset Review queues automatically — text is extracted server-side for the scan.
Inline pasted text (no file) still works for simple copy; uploaded .docx is the path for formatted documents.
AI scan on Word documents
AI Asset Review for .docx sessions:
- Deliverable match — does this file plausibly match the milestone label and scope? (e.g. July payroll vs. June payroll)
- Extracted text analysis — placeholder copy, missing sections, obvious completeness gaps vs. Definition of Done
- Draft comments — suggested feedback you publish after editing; nothing auto-posts to the client
The model reads plain text extracted from the document plus agreement context (deliverable label, scope clauses, revision limits). It does not replace legal review — it catches objective, visible issues and wrong-file uploads early.
For table-heavy payslips, also verify totals and labels visually in the preview; AI supplements human review on layout-sensitive numbers.
Comments on Word documents
- Select text → floating comment draft → publish as draft or revision request (per milestone rules).
- Anchors use TEXT type: start/end offsets plus optional quote string so highlights survive layout tweaks.
- Click a comment in the sidebar → workspace scrolls to the anchored selection.
Revision Boundary™ still applies: when included rounds are exhausted, new revision feedback is blocked at the server — AI scan respects the same limit.
Word vs. PDF for the same content
| Word (.docx) in Zlaip | ||
|---|---|---|
| Preview | Editable-layout HTML preview (tables, styles) | Page-based with region highlights |
| Best for | Living documents, tables, payslips still edited in Word | Final, print-locked deliverables |
| AI scan | Extracted text + agreement context | Text extraction + page images when configured |
| Client UX | Text selection comments | Pins, highlights, arrows on pages |
Many teams export PDF for final sign-off; use .docx review while copy and numbers are still moving.
